This is a non-tipping establishment, and I wish I could tip.
You would think that a non-tipping establishment wouldn’t have the greatest service. You would be totally wrong. Everybody that works here is wonderful and happy to work here. The quality of the sushi is excellent and the prices, even for Calabasas, were fantastic. Not over priced at all and great quality!

Great sushi place! Super affordable while also offering a luxurious dining experience. The sushi here is of very high quality, with most of it even melting in your mouth. I’d recommend trying their predetermined samplers as they seem to include some of the best and freshest food.

Food is fine. Typical sushi spot. I love ordering takeout from here. And dislike going in to eat. I feel like the service is lacking. The staff just doesn’t seem excited for you to be there.

I am currently here on vacation and this was our first planned foodie stop based on previous reviews. Our party was excited to dine here. We were told the wait was approximately 30 minutes, so they took our number and we set off to waste time at the shops. An hour later we were told to return to the restaurant to see hostess and she informed us we still needed to wait? Another short wait and we were seated within breathing distance of the hostess stand and other diners. The first course was fine, we expected to be wowed with the next courses, we ordered the ‘don’t think just eat’. To say we were not impressed is an understatement. The nigiri was tasteless, bland and completely underwhelming. The service was basically dump food on table and walk away. The atmosphere was great though. The dining experience left plenty to be desired. The rice tasted like plain white rice and the fish had no flavor whatsoever. I am however impressed that they managed to remove any and all flavor from raw fish.

Food is always fresh! If you never been here, I highly recommend you try their Ultimate Sashimi experience and order any of the “Trust Me” combos. You will get plenty of food and will leave with a smile, you can thank me later by paying for my next meal. Enjoy friends! ?

Great set sushi menu at a reasonable price point.

We usually get the Trust Me set menu. The set is 7 plates. It starts with edamame, followed by tuna sashimi in ponzu sauce, 2 piece albacore and 2 piece salmon, toro hand roll, 2 piece yellowtail + 1 piece sea bream and 1 piece hirame, with the last course being a crab hand roll. I don’t care for the crab so I usually substitute it for another hand roll.

Here’s the thing. Sugarfish isn’t your traditional Japanese sushi experience, but the fish just melts in your mouth and the ponzu sauce is addictive. I will say some pieces are a little heavy on the sauce and the rice is a little more acidic than typical sushi rice. But for $35 it’s pretty dang good.

Seating - some bar seating, small restaurant with limited seating so almost always a wait. No reservations. This location is in Calabasas Commons so lots of outdoor seating or could walk around while you wait
